ITV has picked the five indies from the UK nations that will receive mentoring and development support as part of its Amplify scheme.
The chosen indies are:
Beagle Media, the Newquay-based current affairs indie behind BBC2’s Cornwall with Simon Reeve and Discovery’s Cornwall 999;
Bright Branch, the Cardiff entertainment producer that makes 5’s Inside Longleat and BBC3’s Doctor Who Unleashed;
High Rock Media, the Belfast daytime specialist with credits including Channel 4’s Abandoned Railways from Above;
Deeside North Wales-based reality producer Osprey Television;
Edinburgh sports indie Studio Something, which made BBC Scotland’s Late Night at the Euros with Compston and Smart.
Each will be paired with an ITV commissioner and will be given £5,000 to develop ideas towards a brief set by the broadcaster.
ITV will have first refusal on each commission, with each indie free to take their idea to another broadcaster if it is turned down.
This is the second year of the Amplify: the Regions scheme, with last year’s cohort comprising Afro-Mic Productions, Blazing Griffin, Bowled Over, Drummer TV and Hello Deer.
