I’ve always wanted to produce an investigative documentary that uncovers and raises awareness of important issues that affect women in today’s society.

My latest project has done just that, exposing a nationwide scandal in which thousands of babies were taken from unmarried mothers, for adoption.

Between the 1940s and 1970s an estimated 200,000 young women were placed in mother and baby homes across England, often run by religious organisations. The ongoing impact of this today is clear to see.

It’s been a privilege to team back up with the inspirational Series Director Helen Nixon to produce this two-part special alongside a fantastic team. We’re very grateful to the families and individuals featured as well as those who shared their experiences as part of our research.

This documentary wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable work of Dr Michael Lambert and the sensitivity of our brilliant presenters Nicky Campbell and Davina McCall.

Please do watch, as these voices deserve to be heard.
