Women Disrupting the Documentary Landscape - The Griersons & We Are Doc Women in conversation

On International Women's Day and chaired by The Grierson Trust's Chair, Lorraine Heggessey, we speak with last year's Grierson Hero Of The Year award winner, documentary director and founding member of 'We Are Doc Women', Clare Richards about what winning her award has meant to her and to her work.

We are also delighted to be joined by panellists, Siobhan Sinnerton (Creative Director & SVP Unscripted of Hilary Clinton's production company, Hidden Light), Fozia Khan (Development Executive Unscripted at Amazon Studios) and Becky Read (Grierson winning documentary maker) to discuss not just female representation in the TV industry but also that of other under-represented groups too. Lorraine will also be finding out why the work Clare and the 'We Are Doc Women' community is still so important and of the ongoing importance of the 50/50 Pledge and why companies like Hidden Light & Amazon Studios have signed up to support it.

We'll also be discussing female representation, as well as their wider diversity and inclusion criteria, across the Griersons categories and how you can submit your entry for the 2023 awards.

50 / 50 male - female composers would be brilliant. I have no idea how we go about achieving it though!

@MattWilliams Thanks for these Matt. I think these schemes are more aimed at songwriters though. Composing for Film and TV is a specialist area, we are hired by execs, producers, directors and write to brief.

I'm a female sound recordist, trained at the NFTS 6/7 years ago, I struggle to get work in the industry, how do you go about hiring your sound recordists, and where do you find them? I often find male sound recordists are preferred over myself, do you have any advice?
