I am a highly experienced specialist factual and documentary Producer/Director with a track record of delivering visually distinctive and critically acclaimed films for BBC1, 2 & 4 (with ratings of up to 5m), ITV1, Channel 5 and the Smithsonian Channel in the US. I’ve worked across arts, history and current affairs on single 60-min scripted and observational documentaries, landmark series, topical magazine shows and short-form films.
My credits include award-winning and Bafta & Grierson-nominated primetime series with high-profile presenters (Amol Rajan, Lucy Worsley, Jeremy Paxman, David Dimbleby, Andrew Graham-Dixon, Kirsty Young), as well as fast-turn-around, short-form films with new, celebrity talent (Lily Cole, Philippa Perry, Rupert Graves, Abbey Clancy, Lionel Shriver).
I’m known for my strong story-telling and for getting to the emotional heart of a story with my contributors. I have always taken ownership of projects from development and scripting through to filming, editing, post production and commissioning of graphics/CGI. I have also edit-produced and overseen simultaneous edits. As a development producer, I’ve worked up commissioned treatments and filmed taster tapes with new talent, who’ve ended up on screen.
I am adept at finding creative solutions on limited budgets and have extensive experience of negotiating rights to rare archive material at little or no cost. I’ve worked on single and multi-camera shoots, directing small and large teams, and have managed to gain access to unusual and sensitive locations, both here and abroad (Europe, North America, Asia).
