Welsh multi-genre Boom has signed BBC Studios scripted exec Siân O’Callaghan as managing director.
O’Callaghan was previously BBCS’ director of production for drama, comedy and fiction, overseeing returning series such as EastEnders, Silent Witness and Casualty and has previously worked in news, current affairs and factual in her 30 year-plus career.
At Boom, she succeeds Nia Thomas, who left after 26 years with the ITV Studios-owned company, including 14 as managing director.
Meanwhile, joining as a creative director is Louise Allen, who has developed and executive produced Netflix formats Too Hot to Handle and Squid Game: the Challenge as well as picking up credits on Channel 4’s Gogglebox and ITV’s I’m a Celebrity and The Only Way is Essex.
She will work alongside Rachel Evans, who steps up from Boom’s director of programmes to become a creative director focused on its Welsh-language and scripted output.
Her credits with the company include BBC1 drama Men Up, S4C’s Y Llais (The Voice) and BBC Wales’ Hot Cakes.
