The producers of Channel 4 digital shows Don't Get Catfished and Slap Fighting: Uncovered are among the eight nations and regions producers set to get a business boost from the broadcaster's Emerging Indie Fund (EIF).
Hertfordshire-based Bakers Dozen Studios was behind Don’t Get Catfished [main picture], while Belfast indie Recorded Time, set up by former BBC and Firecrest Films executive producer Fiona Blair, made Slap Fighting: Uncovered.
This year’s list also includes regional indies Middlesborough's Wander Films, which is co-producing 5’s Ben Fogle: Made in Sheffield with Daisybeck Studios; Gosh!, the Midlands company behind C4’s Building Superhomes strand and BBC1’s The Great Staycation, and Yorkshire’s Factual Fiction, producer of 5 drama Murder Most Puzzling.
Rounding off the list are former Retort boss Jon Rolph's Edinburgh comedy indie North Bridge Media and Cardiff producer Little Bird Films.
Each company gets access to a C4 commissioning editor and regular contact with the broadcaster’s head of indie relations Rebecca Thompson, plus development workshops, and advice from business and slate development consultants.
C4 also backs three of the companies - Recorded Time, Gosh! TV and Wander - through its Business Boost Foundations scheme for small and emerging indies.
