Element Pictures and former Pulse Films exec Lucas Ochoa has set up his own label in partnership with Amandaland producer Merman.

Ochoa, who has been an executive producer at Normal People indie Element since 2020, has unveiled Siren, a joint venture with Merman that will produce returning series for streamers and genre films.

He is best known for his time as chief creative officer of Pulse’s scripted division, where he steered its film and TV drama output including Sky returner Gangs of London and movies such as American Honey and The Witch.

Merman co-founder Sharon Horgan said: “Siren’s slate will sit alongside Merman’s but with an emphasis on working with UK and international talent in bold, muscular genre television.”

Merman recently signed a two-year first-look deal with HBO and is currently working on a second series of Motherland spin-off Amandaland and its first Netflix commission, Vladimir.

The launch of Siren was first reported by Broadcast.
