BBC Films titles Sentimental Value and Pillion and Film4 releases H is for Hawk and The Voice of Hind Rijab are among the British titles receiving nominations for the Bafta film awards.

This year’s best film shortlist comprises Hamnet – which is co-produced by Call the Midwife producers Neal Street Pictures – Marty Supreme, Sinners, One Battle After Another and Sentimental Value.

Hamnet [main picture] has scored 11 nominations, including best British film. Other titles in that category include Pillion, 28 Years Later, H is for Hawk, Netflix’s Steveand Baby Cow’s The Ballad of Wallis Island.

Harry Lighton, the writer-director of Pillion, is up for outstanding debut by a British writer, producer of director, as are Akinola Davies Jr and Wale Davies, the team behind BBC release My Father’s Shadow,  and Jack King, Hollie Bryan and Lucy Meer for The Ceremony.

In the documentary category, BBC Storyville title Mr. Nobody Against Putin is up against 2000 Meters To Andriivka, Apocalypse In The Tropics, Cover-Up and The Perfect Neighbor.

The frontrunners for this year’s awards are One Battle After Another with 14 nominations and Sinners with 13.

Picturehouse Cinemas and Picturehouse Entertainment creative director Clare Binns will receive the outstanding British contribution to cinema award at this year’s ceremony, which takes place on 22 February.
