Leaves me torn between the need to make work opportunities accessible to people from lower income and diverse backgrounds / for purely selfish reasons lowering opportunities for work further in London than they already are feels like its punishing all the sacrifices I've made to survive in London to this point...

@StevenMcVeigh Agreed. It's great to see BBC putting money where their mouth is diversity-wise, but nevertheless disheartening to see jobs leave London! Perhaps others will rise to fill the void

@StevenMcVeigh I totally get that. Also whilst making productions more regionally diverse has got to be a good thing surely I think it might impact work to make productions more ethnically diverse

I think its great to de-centralise - what's key is that it increases work for the freelancers in that area not just for Airbnb!

For me it's very promising! Living in Scotland I've struggled with getting a job over the past few months and haven't seen a lot of job postings here, so it's good to know that there will be an increase in opportunities.

I hope this is actually done properly and not abused like the nonsense that currently exists. All the production companies that have an office in, say, Brighton, employ a couple of local researchers, maybe an AP, and then everyone else commutes from London everyday.

The BBC have tried to become more regional many times before, with limited success. Personally I think it's a good thing to have many hubs for work around the UK

Charles Stuart
It is def good to have diversity but as you say intention rarely translates to reality. Scotland's 'promise' is for a technology news hub. Marginal impact on the industry in Scotland unfortunately. @PageShepherd
