Developing a story from memory
I’m currently developing BLOCCHI DI SOLITO, a feature film set in London in 1997.
The project comes from an autobiographical experience: I lived in London between 1997 and 1999, where I wrote a typewritten autofiction diary that later became the starting point for the project.
I’ve recently been exploring how that memory can be translated into audiovisual language, developing short proof-of-concept teasers alongside the screenplay.
I’m interested in how personal memory can become cinematic material, especially when a place has changed but the experience remains.
It’s also part of a longer creative journey that connects cinema, writing, theatre and live performance.
I’d be interested to hear how other writers/directors approach the transition from lived experience to screen.
