I’ve cut a new showreel - a one minute sizzle followed by four of my favourite scenes that I’ve crafted on shoots / in the edit over the years.
Scene One - Raoul Moat: Inside the Mind of a Killer, Amazon Prime. This scene, cut beautifully by talented editor, Kathy Lee, explores Moat’s connection with the gym and steroids and the void that they filled within his life. In the penultimate week of the edit, someone close to Moat kindly trusted me with this intimate archive footage of him training.
Scene Two - One Shot: The Football Factory, Sky Documentaries. I shot this scene on my first day on the project. It follows young Croydon-based Nigerian footballer, Yomi, breaking news to his mum about a football trial. I was very fortunate to follow their journey for the next 12 months.
Scene Three - Scars: Surviving a Stabbing, BBC Three. In this scene I speak with my old friend, Twizz, about the lasting psychological impact of being stabbed. There is a moment when I let go of the rules that we follow as filmmakers, forget the camera, and comfort him as a friend.
Scene Four - Tegan, Netflix. This scene captures the moment when powerhouse para dressage rider, Tegan Vincent-Cooke, gets her first horse. Pitched and made through the Netflix Documentary Fund, this short observational film plays out like a love story.
