Over the past couple of months I've been writing a weekly newsletter, The Business of Screenwriting, exploring the realities of building a writing career between emerging and established.

It started as a way of documenting my own experiences navigating schemes, festivals, script reading, networking, representation, feedback and the practical realities of working in the industry from outside traditional routes.

What has surprised me most has been the response. The newsletter is now being shared by industry professionals, recommended to writers on training programmes, and used as a resource by educators supporting emerging screenwriters.

Recent editions have covered topics including agents, rejection, industry schemes, festival selection processes, accountability groups and career resilience.

I don't claim to have all the answers. What I'm interested in is creating honest conversations about the often overlooked space between starting out and becoming established.

If that's a conversation you're interested in too, I'd love to connect.
