An exciting but bittersweet development: I have outgrown my lovely dovecote castle film studio and I'm expanding. Over the last year I have shot and edited a variety of documentary and natural history film projects here: from natural history shoots for BBC Studios and indies currently under NDA, and documentaries from shorts to an international feature film.

Next month I'll be moving Studio Esca into another, larger tower at the castle (yes I know what you're thinking: to the manor born!) with double the floorspace for filming, editing suite and VO recording, building kit, labspace/animal husbandry.

As much as I love my current space with its resident bats and insects, this step is exactly what I need to bring more ambitious projects to life, particularly involving motion control with longer-term macro sets for filming behaviour. Exciting times - watch this space!

Studio Esca is an independent documentary film studio based in Ashwicke, South Glos (35mins from central Bristol). At Studio Esca we specialise in wildlife, science and adventure-conservation films.
