Just wrapped the edit on a feature documentary I produced and directed — one that’s taken up most of my weekends (and most of my headspace) over the last two months.
The process? Hours in the cut, frame by frame, chasing story, emotion, silence, and what felt true.
Relief and pride, with a side of “should I work on that scene again just a little longer?”
For the record: the best way I’ve found to survive the Apple “wheel of death” during a “is the computer about to crash?” moment…
Tea. Emergency chocolate. And a mantra of submission to the edit Gods. Sometimes even the computer needs a break.
A break and pizza. Always pizza. The filmmaker’s lifeblood.

Word of warning, find an alternative to chocolates and pizza! Combined with all those hours sitting in an edit, the kilos quickly pile up. And it's so hard to shift. Good luck with the film.
