I'm planning to attend Sheffield Doc fest this year and, having never been before, I'm looking for any tips from TM fellows on how to get the best out of my visit. My two goals are to be inspired by as much doco as I can watch and to make new in-person connections with fellow professionals who are enthusiastic about documentary storytelling.

@RichardGott I'm going again this year, fancy a car share?

Richard Gott
@RhysJones Thanks Rhys. Let's chat. I'm tempted to take the train.

@RichardGott The good thing about Sheffield is that it's pretty concentrated in a small area. The Showroom Cinema bar is a good place to park yourself for the duration as everyone congregates there!

Richard Gott
@RobinParker Thanks for this. That's GREAT to know, and a really useful tip! Just what I need.

@RichardGott I reckon it's worth getting a freelancer pass and attending a mix of sessions, screenings, pitching events and parties. Definitely pre-book these as early as you can - the hotter tickets get snapped up quickly and you don't want to be left with a meagre selection of painfully worthy student films and discussions about compliance. Have a great time!

@RichardNash Ah. That's very helpful. I'm definitely getting the freelancer pass (once I update my headshot). I wasn't aware of the need to prebook things, so that's extremely helpful advice (and now you've mentioned it, makes complete sense, of course) thanks very much!
