I’m a freelance location sound recordist with over seventeen years experience working on observational documentaries, current affairs programmes and corporate/branded content productions. Recent credits include: ‘Songs of Praise’ Avanti Media for BBC One, ‘Grand Designs’ Boundless Productions for Channel 4 and ‘Gardener’s World’ BBC Two, amongst MANY others.

I regularly work in Wales, the Midlands and London.

I’m particularly interested in working on projects that lean towards any of these end results: educational, ethical, artistic, ‘good-cause’, co-operative, collaborative, meaningful, pro-social. And I’m particularly interested in working with any of these general areas of subject matter: sustainability, environment, society, psychology, philosophy, linguistics, the arts, social history, the natural world, politics.

I’m a full member of IPS (the Institute of Professional Sound). I hold an NVQX3 certificate in Health and Safety, I have an enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records check) and I have a current public liability insurance policy. I hold a valid passport, a full UK driving license, I have a basic level of conversational Welsh and as any sound recordist should, I have a PMSE license to use radio mic equipment!

My main kit comprises a Sound Devices 633 mixer/dual-media recorder which enables me to simultaneously supply high quality Bwav files as well as smaller mp3 files for transcription purposes. I carry several different microphones for dialogue recording depending on the environment/circumstances: Sennheiser MKH60, Sennheiser MKH8060, a Schoeps CMC6/MK40 and two ‘presenter mics’ (Beyerdynamic M58). I have six radio mics: 4 x Audio Wireless and 2 x Micron Explorer all with Sanken Cos11 laveliers. I also have Timecode Systems timecode solutions to keep my mixer and four cameras in frame-accurate sync all day. I carry a spare mixer in case the unimaginable should happen in the middle of nowhere. Read Less
