Last night, we had something of a (very public) face plant!
The platform we used for the speed-meet part of our event crashed leaving 800 people locked out of networking they urgently need.
We’re really sorry for the inconvenience, frustration and any stress caused.
We know how much people were looking forward to the networking - as were we - and it’s disappointing it couldn’t happen last night.
We are feeling pretty crestfallen. For the Indies - who were keen to meet new people - but most importantly for you, our freelance community.
This is us in this morning's team meeting. Not much festive joy here.
But here’s the thing.
Telly folk aren't just adaptable, resilient, tenacious and humorous in the face of adversity (I guess we've learned to be after 2023!) but are also incredibly kind and understanding.
We have been consoled this morning by the huge number of supportive emails, notifications, messages and posts. We’ve rejoiced that smaller networkings were spontaneously arranged (and by all accounts fun) and have had a lot of laughs reading some of your funny comments on the hub.
The fact that so many of you have sent love and best wishes despite your disappointment is massively appreciated by me and my team.
We are now hatching plans to ensure that every one of those planned meets get actioned after all.
It's been good to hear that the panel discussion provided food for thought and we are very grateful to our friends at the Film& TV Charity and Bectu. Thanks again too to their teams, who were on standby for the networking, and of course the many recruiters and execs from the Indies.
It’s been a rotten year all round, but we look forward to supporting you in what we hope will be a better 2024.
Watch this space for updates. One thing for sure - we will be using a new more robust networking platform! Thank you again for all the support and understanding.
