Oh yoohoo - only me - and please note this is me... my thoughts... my opinion... nobody else's and I do not represent anyone I may mention ;)
Can we all just remember that sometimes 'sh*t' happens and when it does, we just need to be kind.
I was due - like many - to join a networking event this evening run by the wonderful team over at The Talent Manager... computer said no - well, most computers involved said no, and we could not go ahead.
The majority of attendees took it in the spirit one should = not a disaster - but a minority were quite vocal about their being miffed... in a public sphere.
Yes it is frustrating to miss out on meeting with people - especially if you have been struggling this year to find work; you were finally getting to meet the Talent Exec who has never shortlisted you for a job even though you know you would be perfect; you were going to be ble to talk to someone who you look up to / admire in their career path... however, it will be rearranged and we do have to not be so cross if things go wrong.
A few of us hopped on over to zoom and it was a true delight to say hi to some new faces, offer support to others going through a quiet time and remember - we are not alone.
The online community is vast and it is phenomenal in many ways but sometimes tech sh*t does just happen - and nobody at TM deserves a hard time for this evening. Do also remember those people you wanted to meet see your rants - and I for one am not actively rushing to work with rude people.
I am looking forward to the next - and am always, always up for a zoom natter with anyone wanting to chew the TV fat.
I will be going to the VERSA Studios do in Manchester next week if anyone wants to meet and come with me and I will also be doing some CV clinics in London so pop me a DM if you want to connect.
Let's stay positive and stay kind.
