A while back, we marked 10 years since launching The Talent Manager.
We didn’t make much of a fuss about it – one of the things I’ve realised in recent months is I don’t shout enough about the amazing work my small team do - but I did feel a real sense of pride that the platform is now a stalwart of the industry: not only the fact that it’s used by over 5,000 companies and 120,000 established freelancers, many on a daily basis, but also that it’s helped shift the culture of recruitment in TV.
This year has been hard for everyone in the industry – both freelancers and Indies. In 30+ years, working as a producer and then running The Talent Manager, this is the worst I’ve known it. Like during Covid, we’ve been working flat out to support our community – hosting extra events and networking sessions, subsidising a month of training courses, sourcing jobs from related industries that suit transferrable skills, running webinars, providing one-on-one support for members – basically whatever we can to help people during this downturn in production. The feedback we’ve been getting over the last couple of weeks especially has shown how appreciated that is and, to be honest, a bit overwhelming. Sitting in TM Towers with all of us beavering away, we often don’t realise how much TM is an integral and trusted part of people’s lives, so it’s been incredibly gratifying to be reminded of that.
I am also thankful and excited to hear all the suggestions for how we can continue to improve the TM. Like any small business, we're always trying to reach out and listen to our community. Indeed, we’ve had so many great ideas that we want to formalise this feedback process: from tomorrow we’re going to be releasing info on our development pipeline so that our community can input on what would be more or less useful for them, suggest amendments or offer up new ideas."
And, of course, we're soon to launch our new improved app which is going to make navigating TM so much easier too.
Join us to find out more on all of this tomorrow lunchtime at 1pm and refresh yourself on how to make the most of your TM profile at the same time.
