20 years ago in March 2003 I did my first shift at the BBC. I was working on content for BBC Three aimed at the youth audience - Liquid News, The Entertainment Loop (possibly the BBC's first VOD offering?) the News Show, 60 Seconds. I soon started to pick up shifts on News 24, BBC World and on longform programmes such as Fast Track, Talking Books, HardTalk and Click Online.

In 2007 I took on the responsibility of editing the obituaries, this is not a depressing role, obituaries are about life not death. They're full of wonderful archive and incredible stories. I edited over 600 obits in my time, sadly one of them is being transmitted today - Mary Quant.

In recent years I've done a lot of work for Newsnight. Several of my pieces have won or been nominated for awards. Not least that infamous interview with Prince Andrew.

Last year, what I considered to be my most important piece of work was finally transmitted - the multiple obituaries for HM Queen Elizabeth II. It broke my heart to see my work on the telly. I was then asked to edit the top story on the day of funeral. What a privilege to work with such perfect pictures and sound on such an historic day.

Today marks my final day as a BBC employee. What an honour and delight it has been to work with so many amazing, clever, talented people at an organisation that I have loved all my life. Thank you to everyone - I shall miss you all.
