In this one off special The Supervet tries to use his thirty years of expertise treating the nation's pets to help the most majestic and powerful wild animals of South Africa.
Travelling to South Africa with Professor Noel Fitzpatrick was an extraordinary adventure. Noel lives in the, self-confessed, figurative igloo of his veterinary practice in Surrey. He doesn’t take holidays and he certainly has never travelled. But far from being lost at sea, Noel’s universal love of the natural world made him feel like he was at home. His passion and knowledge was awe-inspiring and incredibly infectious.
The aim of the film is to highlight the incredible work carried out by the local veterinary professionals and wildlife conservationists who are trying to save many of the country's endangered species. It was humbling to be in the presence of these amazing creatures and be surrounded by such natural beauty. It was a powerful reminder of the oneness we share with all the animals on this planet and the imperative need to look after what we’ve got.
