House Productions co-founder Juliette Howell is exiting the Sherwood indie to take the reins at fellow BBC Studios drama label Lookout Point.
Howell has been named chief executive of Lookout Point, best known for Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack and Netflix’s upcoming Pride and Prejudice [pictured], and will take her existing slate of House developments to her new employer.
She succeeds Laura Lankester and Wil Johnson, who left last June to head UK TV operations at A24.
Howell, a former TV chief for Working Title, teamed up with former Film 4 chief Tessa Ross to launch House in 2016.
As well as BBC1’s Sherwood, House’s productions include Oscar-winning movie Conclave, Channel 4’s Brexit: The Uncivil War and BBC2’s Life After Life.
Ross will continue as the company’s chief executive.
BBC Studios Productions chief executive Zai Bennett said: “Juliette’s appointment reflects not just the creative strength of the shows we make, but the people who make them.
“By placing one of our most dynamic leaders into this role, we’re ensuring Lookout Point remains fearless and creatively charged for the future. I’m also delighted that Tessa will continue to lead House Productions as she’s a true force in an intensely competitive scripted market.”
Howell added: “I can’t wait to collaborate with the brilliant team shaping the next generation of hits and to continue championing the bold distinctive storytelling that has always excited me.
“Lookout Point has a remarkable legacy and an appetite for ideas that resonate with audiences. Stepping into this role is an incredible opportunity, and I’m so excited about this next chapter.”
