Suzanne Mackie has re-teamed with her former Left Bank Pictures colleagues Michael Casey and Gabriel Silver, who have joined her indie Orchid Pictures.
Casey [right in main picture] spent 16 years at Left Bank, latterly as a board member and as a producer of shows such as The Crown, Strike Back and Zen.
Mackie stepped down as the Sony-owned indie’s creative director in 2020 to launch Orchid, which has an exclusive deal with Netflix that kicks off with Chris Chibnall's forthcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials Mystery and The Crown writer Peter Morgan’s next series.
Silver has been creative director of Banijay UK drama producer Tiger Aspect since March 2023 and was previously director of commissioning at Sky Studios, where he oversaw dramas including Day of the Jackal, Chernobyl and I Hate Suzie.
He too previously worked with Mackie at Left Bank, where he developed and executive produced Strike Back.
Silver started in drama production on Mammoth Screen’s Miss Marple films and has also worked for Kudos, Balloon Entertainment and LWT Studios.
Mackie said of the senior hires: “Gabriel is a creative powerhouse who brings impeccable taste, sharply honed editorial skills and intuition, in addition to invaluable production and commissioning experience.
“With the arrival of Michael, an undeniable force in guiding world-leading productions, we’ve significantly expanded our strength and cemented our capacity to deliver the best working environment for our flourishing stable of writers.”
The Orchid Pictures team also includes development producers Hannah Campbell and Sophie Loizou and development assistant Sam Spencer.
