STV Studios has hired its first director of production for scripted as it gears up for more of BBC1’s Blue Lights plus Sky and Netflix dramas.

Sara Hamill will work across STV Studios Drama, Tod, the label behind Apple TV+ crime thriller Criminal Record, and Two Cities, the Blue Lights producer in which STV Studios took a majority stake earlier this year.

Hamill has been director of production at Tiger Aspect for the past six years, overseeing dramas such as BBC/Netflix co-pro Peaky Blinders and ITV’s Three Little Birds and The Good Karma Hospital.

She previously spent four years at Urban Myth Films overseeing dramas such as Channel 4/Netflix series Crazyhead and BBC1’s Atlantis.

In her new role, Hamill will work with STV Studios creative director of drama Sarah Brown, Tod managing director Elaine Collins and Two Cities chief executives Michael Jackson and Stephen Wright.

STV is preparing to enter production on Amadeus for Sky and The Witness for Netflix as well as series three of Blue Lights, a double commission with series two, which started on BBC1 this week.
