Expectation is looking to bolster its entertainment slate with the hiring of Mettlemouse Entertainment’s Katrina Grant in a senior role.

Grant joins the indie behind Clarkson’s Farm and The Dyers’ Caravan Park [main picture] as director of development, entertainment with a brief spanning talent-led shows, reality TV, gameshows, factual entertainment and unscripted comedy.

She will be tasked with finding “commercially viable and distinctive” projects and will also co-develop formats with affiliate label Plegazoid, which is co-producing an upcoming unscripted series for the BBC and NBC Universal.

Grant previously spent three years as director of development at Mettlemouse, the producer of Channel 4’s The Honesty Box and Spencer Matthews: Am I a Psychopath?.

Prior to that, she was at Hungry Bear Media for nine years, working with on-screen talent including Michael McIntyre, Wim Hof and Bradley and Barney Walsh.

Earlier in her career, she was a producer-director on Studio Lambert’s Gogglebox, a senior storyliner on three series of Lime Pictures’ The Only Way is Essex and helped to develop and cast Geordie Shore, also for Lime.

Hailing Grant’s track record of identifying talent and creating formats, Expectation  entertainment creative director Ben Wicks said:

“As Expectation ramps up its formats and entertainment business, building on recent ratings hits and high-profile greenlights for UK and international broadcasters and streamers – whilst doubling down on our talent-led projects – we’re thrilled to have someone of her prodigious talent joining to lead our fantastic development team to further success.”
