Very grateful to be working on this new project with so much going for it! First at Sheffield Doc Fest's MeetMarket, then Tokyo Docs, now FIPA and Hot Docs next. Can't wait!

"Ugandan Jackie Chan" Sunday creates action scenes drawn from his life as an asylum seeker in Japan, and through filming them, impossible realities emerge. Sunday a Ugandan man is at Shinagawa station visiting the immigration bureau. He has been in Japan for 15 years and this is his routine. Leo, an exchange student from the UK meets Sunday in a cafe in Tokyo where they strike a friendship and the idea for a documentary is born. Inspired by Wakaliwood, a Ugandan style of action movies, and together with the local Japanese community, they begin filmingscenes born out of Sunday's experiences in Japan; scenes about his struggle as a refugee morph into a surreal pastiche where a new narrative starts to emerge.
