@ShabnamNasrollahi Thank you Shabnam - I think Rap Game's strength is making it as close to UK Rap culture as we possibly could. There are always issues when things come to TV about what can and can't work but the DIY aesthetic of UK Rap was something we really embraced in the show and as you can see in the Series 2 finale can lead to almost anti TV moments. By anti TV moments I mean moments that didn't follow any script but ultimately gave us a sense that this is real life.

@ShabnamNasrollahi Agree with @NelsonAdeosun fully. Also, we had fresh talent via Krept, Konan and Target who are not TV presenters – their specialism is music. I’d like to see that done more on TV - thinking outside of the box when it comes to talent. Also, you rarely see that many people of colour on screen all at once! Hopefully things are changing now for the better, but the series has always been unique in that respect and rightly so because its predominantly black people making UK rap.

@AnthonyBeckford Personally I really enjoyed working with Krept and Konan. They are very down to earth and were fully invested in the process. They cared about the artists and that the show was an authentic reflection of the scene. They felt very familiar to me (I’m a South Londoner and a UK Rap fan so maybe that’s why!) and this meant we had a relaxed dialogue and I felt comfortable hitting them up at any time about developing stories or parts of the editorial process that needed their input.

@JemmaCoutts I disagree totally. Black culture has always been at the forefront of what is cool and what is the zeitgeist. Everything we do people gravitate toward. The subject matter is no more niche than when the Beatles began copying black American rock and roll artists like Little Richard. I say that to say Rap Game and Rap in particular are here to stay if anything I'd say that Rap Game is like the founding father of the new generation of rap on mainstream TV.

@JemmaCoutts If you check all the online blogs and pages. You'll see that it's all about what black people are upto and doing and what they find cool. TV has been slow to respond to it and that's why Rap Game is so successful. The lack of black faces shown in a positive light make some people shun TV - something like this helps to bring people back. No matter how brief.

@JemmaCoutts Mainly disagree. UK Rap has had a firm place in charts and on streaming services for a while now. But for those who knew nothing about the scene, hopefully the series was both an education and entertaining. It was also important for us and BBC3 that the series resonated wider than with fans of UK rap and I’m confident we achieved that. The documentary layers in the format allowed for universal themes to be explored and for viewers to connect with the artists on a deeper level.
