This is largely driven by political spite and though it's been threatened for a while that's what it is. What will it do to Indies? It will cause damage and it will also make it much harder for anyone coming into telly from a non-standard (well off, privately educated background). Channel 4 was set up to be different to open up production to lots of different ideas and people way back in 1982 and it did that from the start. Creativity will be slaved even more to money. Grim
