I’ve just left the Creative AI Meetup in London, hosted at Bayes Business School with the Institute for Creativity and AI.

Huge thanks to Luba Elliott for putting it together and to Esme Palaganas for hosting and everyone involved in making this happen. 🙏

The Creative AI Meetup brings artists, researchers and technologists together to share new AI developments and how they show up in creative practice. 🎨🤖

We had three talks.

🧠 Sander Dieleman, Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, spoke on multimodal generative models.
He looked at systems that work across sound, image, video and language, and the challenges that come when those modalities behave so differently.

💡 Jafar Sabbah, Lecturer in Technology and Innovation Management at City St George’s, presented The Human GenAI Tango in Generating Creative Ideas.
He explored how the way we structure collaboration with GenAI changes novelty, usefulness and human judgement.

🖼 Yunzhi Melissa Li, computational artist, shared Master In Training: Still Life after Machine Vision.
She walked through a four screen installation that keeps translating a staged still life through machine vision, text, image generation and search, and what that does to memory and the idea of artistic mastery.

The event ended with pizza and a chance to chat. 🍕

3 very different but equally fascinating talks. Massively appreciated. ✨
