Volunteering today at Sheffield DocFest was amazing! I joined the Festival's Runner Crew for the first of three volunteering shifts this week, and was so emboldened by the welcoming nature of everyone and the lovely volunteer hub the Volunteer Coordinator and team created.
Throughout the day, I supported teams across the festival wherever needed, helping to ensure delegates, staff, and visitors had a positive experience. My responsibilities included welcoming delegates at the Delegate Hub, supporting venue operations, assisting festival teams, and ensuring resources and materials were delivered to the right locations on time.
It was a fantastic experience to see the scale of work that goes into delivering a major documentary festival and to contribute behind the scenes to its smooth running. I enjoyed meeting people from across the film and creative industries, developing my event operations skills, and being part of such a collaborative and supportive team.
A big thank you to everyone involved in making the festival happen. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the week unfolds at Sheffield DocFest.
