Really proud to share that Lady Lifers, a film I directed, has been selected in competition at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF), marking its South African premiere 🇿🇦
Lady Lifers is a US-based true crime documentary built on rare access to women inside maximum-security prisons, shaped through sensitive, character-led storytelling. I also led the film through post-production, working closely with editorial teams to navigate complex legal, ethical, and duty-of-care considerations, with a strong focus on investigative rigour and what the edit truly needs from the field.
DIFF is one of the longest-running and most respected film festivals on the African continent, known for championing bold, socially engaged, and politically resonant cinema. To be screening there, and in competition, means a huge amount to us and to the women whose stories sit at the heart of this film.
Massive thanks to Carylanna Taylor and Andrew Herwitz at The Films Sales Company in New York for believing in the film, backing it so wholeheartedly, and all your hard work. Your trust, taste, and persistence really matter.
And to Adam Gee, thank you for the support and perspective along the way. It’s been invaluable.
More soon, but for now, feeling very grateful.
