📺 TALENTED TM-ERS ON TV 📺 "The Great British Photography Challenge", BBC 4, starts Mon 24th May
This week we hear from @Marisa PriviteraMurdoch , PD on the show:
I started out as a photographer before I worked in TV, & it remains a huge part of my life. Having this background led me to work on some amazing photography docs—several of which were with Rankin while at the BBC. What was different about this project for me was that the format broke with the ‘whittle down’ tradition of these types of programmes. Both Storyboard and Rankin were clear from the beginning that no one would be going home, the 6 photographers would be on this creative journey until the end.
Storyboard Studios brought the idea of GBPC to the BBC and Rankin. Together with Storyboard Prod Exec Kevin Walker, MD Natalie Humphreys assembled a small but mighty team & we worked through lockdowns, ever changing COVID restrictions & strict protocols that forced us to continually rethink logistics. Working for Storyboard was an incredible experience, they are one of the most supportive and inclusive companies I have ever worked with.
Rankin is one of the most knowledgeable and passionate photographers I’ve ever met. I don’t think people realise just how hard working he is, and how much of himself he puts into his practice. His love of photography is genuine and infectious and you can’t help but learn when you’re around him. It really was the masterclass of a lifetime, for all of us!
