Is there a parallel between the provision of 1:1 sessions by industry executives during the Christmas period and the services offered by Food Banks? I would be interested to hear your perspective on this comparison.
While I greatly appreciate and respect the industry executives who are generously offering their time during the holiday season to support freelancers with one-on-one sessions amid the current downturn in the film and TV industry, I cannot help but question why we have arrived at such a challenging situation that necessitates these well-intentioned professionals to take such commendable action.
I believe that requiring 1:1 support sessions during Christmas is akin to the reliance on food banks; both highlight a national failing to provide timely assistance to those in need. The necessity of food banks is a reflection of systemic shortcomings in addressing the needs of our population.
We need effective measures in the Film and TV industry to provide excellent professional jobs, rather than offering 1:1 sessions during Christmas.
