This initiative couldn't come at a better time. In an era where stories shape our cultural identity, establishing a dedicated national archive would ensure that iconic Filipino films are preserved and accessible for future generations. It would also foster research, education, and innovation in the industry.
From my work sourcing rare footage for documentaries and series, I know the challenges: deteriorating negatives, lost prints, and the urgent need for climate-controlled storage and digitisation expertise. A national archive would address these head-on, boosting our creative economy.
