This year I’ve worked hard to keep looking forward rather than getting stuck in the uncertainty of the current state of things (sometimes successfully… sometimes not!). I’ve very much leant into training opportunities during down time - these can often be free - it has really helped keep me moving forward / brain active.
Sharing a quick update before we hit the December C-word countdown :) Though, as you can see - I've started toasting the festive period just a little bit!🎄
💻 Learning & Upskilling
Signed up for the Reskill-Upskill Programme with The Film and TV Charity + NFTS: Broadening Job Horizons Through Skills Alignment. Really valuable and worth keeping an eye out for future rounds.
Taking a Mental Health First Aider course with Tracey Palmer-Hole (Assoc CIPD) next month to strengthen what I can offer as a leader and mentor.
Joining a The Film and TV Charity CV Workshop this week; most of my work comes via word-of-mouth, so I’m welcoming fresh eyes and feedback.
I really enjoyed the RSA Southern Creative Catalyst at Farnborough International Studios - great getting together with local creatives, making new and local connections, and having a good natter.
📽️ Consulting & Creative Bits
Continuing to advise on a brilliant project with Freeborne (and yes, joining their Christmas celebrations - thanks team!).
Wrapped a VFX tender for BBC Studios - a fantastic team who took time to engage with the process despite busy schedules - I am always appreciative of that engagement.
Building post-production onboarding/training for a Bristol indie, which I’m really excited about.
Invited to a Hampshire & Surrey Chamber roundtable on skills needed in the local Film and AV sector.
Supporting ScreenSkills research into skills shortages/gaps; and hoping to highlight how this links to the wider work shortage.
