Earlier this month I won a ticket to attend SISTALAND festival, a two-day gathering bringing together women and underrepresented creatives to address power dynamics, open doors, and create a space for community, shared learning, and opportunity.

Lately it’s been difficult to allow myself the time to attend 'extracurricular events', but I’m so, so glad I managed to go.

I wasn’t sure what to expect of a first-year festival, but it’s safe to say it completely surpassed every expectation I had.

From industry experts who generously shared their time and their knowledge through talks, workshops and one-to-one chats, to cross-industry discussions around access, creativity, failure, and vulnerability (that felt fresh and genuinely meaningful), being at the very first SISTALAND gathering felt like being part of a historic moment.

Thank you to Nikita Dare, the woman behind it all, for working so hard to bring us an event that was truly unique and very much needed in today’s creative landscape.
