There was lots of fantastic press coverage and reaction to 'King of Lies' - a new feature documentary which I directed that premiered on Sky docs/Now this weekend.
The story starts with Notts County football club being taken over by a mysterious Bahraini company, who promise the golden land - financing a push for the Premier League and bringing in ex-England manager Sven Goran-Erikson and Sol Campbell to the club. However, all was not as it seems, and thanks to the work of the Guardian's Matt Scott - it was revealed that the figurehead, Russell King had a very shady past and that the whole thing was a cover to extract all the mineral mining rights of North Korea in a trillion dollar deal.
The film is a heartbreaking look at the psychology of a conman, and the pain of the communities that were left behind with many twists and turns - and features a new, untold thread - which takes an unbelievable story to even more ludicrous heights.
Thanks to Matt Lorenzo, Daniel Sharp, Sam Cryer, Jack Oliver, Will Stone, Sam McMulkin and all at DASH/Sky who helped get this over the line
