We were delighted to be invited to @ITN Productions “Directors Vision” showcase at The Curzon Bloomsbury last night, where the work of three up-and-coming documentary filmmakers was presented.

The evening began with an introduction by Ian Rumsey, Managing Director of Content, who spoke eloquently about the changing landscape of our industry and the enduring importance of great storytelling. Ian reflected on the shift from traditional linear television to digital platforms, framing it not as a threat, but as an exciting opportunity for creativity, and emphasised the need for companies to rise to meet the expectations of today’s audiences.

The three short documentaries featured were:

“Big Cat” by Naomi Pallas - a witty and original exploration of alleged big cat sightings in and around Glastonbury. Well shot and filled with wonderfully eccentric contributors, the film delivered an engaging story enhanced by clever creative touches, including playful POV shots that added humour and flair.

“Just Dance” by Seb Whyte - an evocative black-and-white portrait of Benoit Swan Pouffer, Artistic Director at Rambert, as he develops his latest work. Beautifully crafted and visually striking, Whyte’s film showcased confident direction, imaginative camera work, and a refined sense of rhythm.

“I, The Gypsy” by Dasa Raimanova - a deeply moving, unfinished yet powerful film following Bella Varadi, a photographer returning to his hometown in Hungary to stage an exhibition of his work. Raimanova, a freelance filmmaker originally from Slovakia, captures Varadi’s emotional journey as he confronts his past and present. His photography - exploring human rights, LGBTQIA+ experiences, and the Roma community - is brought to life with empathy and striking visual depth.

Congratulations to the team at ITN Productions, Senior Development Producer @DavidNewman , Talent Executive @ZaraMcFadden, and Head of Digital Content @RubinaPabani — for organising and hosting such a great event, and for championing three distinctive and talented new voices in documentary filmmaking.
