💬 Why I Started Writing (and Why I’ll Keep Going)
The industry’s been quiet lately — but that’s not why I started writing here. I started (quite some time ago, when dinosaurs roamed the streets) because I love it. Because words, connection, and community have always been at the heart of what I do. 💛
From way back in 2010 — when I ran #TVMingling and wrote my first TV blog — through to volunteering with the BBC Learning Academy, Careers Uni events, and the British Broadcasting Sign Language Trust, I’ve always been passionate about sharing, encouraging, and helping people find their footing in this brilliantly unpredictable world of event, experiential, and broadcast production. 🎬
I don’t post my procrastinations as a cry for help.
I post them in the hope they might make someone else feel a little less alone — that my fears, observations, and industry ramblings might also be informative, relatable, or even a tiny bit inspiring.
I share because I genuinely enjoy the conversation — the honesty, humour, and solidarity that comes from this little TM family we’ve built.
I love seeing people grow — whether it’s someone finding their confidence on their first big show, shaping a creative pitch, or realising they’re not the only one feeling a bit wobbly. That’s what drives me to write.
Yes… it’s quiet.
Yes… I’m looking for my next gig.
And YES… this is the quietest it’s been in nearly 20 years.
But — I’m trusting my gut:
💭 I am liked.
💪 I am hireable.
🎥 And there will be another project soon.
For anyone else in a quiet patch — “quiet” doesn’t mean over. It just means in between.
And while I’m here, I’m channelling that energy into something new — my podcast, The Procrastinating Producer. 🎙️ It won’t pay my bills (yet 😅), but it keeps me creative… and off Amazon. 🛒
Thanks to everyone who reads, comments, messages, and shares — you remind me we’re not alone, even when it’s quiet.
