🌟 Behind the Boss Bitch: Staying Human in a Tough Year 🌟

On here, I often share upbeat posts about being ready for the next project, pitching with energy, and staying positive. That’s all true — I am brilliant at what I do, I love working, I’m outgoing and confident in front of clients and teams.

But behind closed doors, there are days when I feel very different. When the work slows down, I spiral. I assume the reason I’m not booked is because people don’t like me. The feelings of low self-worth can be sharp and unexpected, and I don’t always know what triggers them.

Silly eh?

The things I try to remember (and maybe you need to too):

❌ Not being hired right now does not mean you’re not good enough.

❌ It’s not about people disliking you.

✅ It’s the industry: seasonal cycles, shifting budgets, schedules that pause and restart.

You can be the most capable, outgoing, boss bitch in the room — and still feel sad or anxious when the phone doesn’t ring. Both things can be true.

So how do we protect our sense of self when our self-worth feels tied to our diaries?

Reframe: it’s an industry issue, not a personal failing.

Reach out: talk to peers — most are quietly navigating the same.

Recharge: find worth outside of work — whether that’s family, hobbies, or simply rest.

Remind yourself: confidence on the outside and sadness on the inside don’t cancel each other out — they’re part of being human.

2025 has been challenging in the media and events sphere, but it doesn’t define us.

We’re still brilliant, still bold, still here.

Low self-esteem when you’re not working really does suck. It feels heavy, isolating, and unfair — especially when you know you’re good at what you do. But talking about it, normalising it, and reminding each other it’s not about being “unlikeable” or “not good enough” is how we take some of the sting out.

So if you’re nodding along, know this: you’re not the only one. You’re not broken. You’re not failing. You’re human. And sometimes, even boss bitches have wobbly days. 💪❤️
