Champagne one week, nothing the next.
What if the landscape doesn’t change?
A few weeks ago I shared how 2025 has been my best year and my quietest year — all at once.
The highs have been incredible: producing projects like The BRIT Awards 2025 Mastercard Campaign, directing the James Blunt x Cyril music video, and working across some brilliant events and shoots. Proper pinch-me moments.
But there’s also been the struggle:
Long stretches of silence.
Jobs that felt like a perfect fit, but never even an interview.
Being swapped out for “in-house” on projects I’d helped build.
This week someone asked me: what will you do if the landscape doesn’t change?
The honest answer: I’m doing everything I can — building skills, staying connected, saying yes to new challenges. But persuading people you’re capable, when hiring often defaults to “like for like” credits on a CV, is the biggest challenge of all.
Because here’s the truth:
👉 If I can produce a festival, I can produce a promo pop-up.
👉 If I can run a live awards show, I can manage a brand activation.
👉 If I can direct a music video, I can direct a social campaign.
The skill set is stackable. The adaptability is real. The challenge is being seen beyond the familiar job titles.
So for now, I’ll ride the storm. Keep building, keep learning, keep widening my network. Because I know the right role, the right team, the right “click” is out there. And when it happens, those quieter days will feel less never-ending.
Until then… I’ll keep sharpening skills, reaching out, and yes — drinking far too much tea (and the odd glass of wine). Because if this industry has taught me anything, it’s that no season lasts forever.
Here’s hoping the next chapter brings a little less tumbleweed and a bit more champagne. 🥂
