2025 has been my best year and my quietest year — all at once.
Being a Producer in 2025...
Being a producer at the moment feels like shouting “ready when you are!” into the void.
TV is shrinking.
Commercials appear in short bursts.
Music videos? More often done in-house or on a phone.
Events and campaigns? Usually tied up with internal teams.
And yet… 2025 hasn’t been without its highs. I’ve been lucky to jump between some brilliant projects — from The BRIT Awards 2025 Mastercard Campaign to a James Blunt x Cyril music video, alongside a mix of campaigns, events and shoots that reminded me why I love this job in the first place. Proper pinch-me stuff.
But then came the quiet patch. And it’s been really quiet.
Jobs I know I could nail… but no interview.
Applications ghosted into silence.
A returning event I poured myself into handed to someone already “on payroll.”
It’s deflating. It’s worrying. And if I’m honest, it’s left me wondering if the phone will ever ring again.
The thing is — I know I’m not the only one feeling this. I’ve spoken to so many brilliant people across TV, music, live events and beyond who are in exactly the same boat. Talented, hard-working, creative people… sat staring at the inbox, waiting for something to give.
So I’m trying to focus on what is in my control:
💡 Keeping soft skills alive by staying connected and collaborative.
📚 Building new hard skills so I’m ready when the tide turns.
☕ Drinking too much tea. 🍷 And yes, sometimes wine.
It’s a strange kind of balancing act — keeping faith in yourself, keeping the fire lit, while also admitting that sometimes it’s just plain hard.
I’m still hoping for that miracle call to break up the pity party. Because while I do love a night out, this is one soirée I don’t fancy being stuck at.
Anyone else riding this rollercoaster? Misery loves company… but I’ll bring the wine.
