Nothing quite hits the right note like capturing a live performance 🎤 and blending it with a killer narrative — so the promo doesn’t just show the music… it tells a story! 📖✨
I’ve had the chance to produce at some insane music events (from Glastonbury 🌍 to MDL Beast in Saudi Arabia 🔥) — but honestly, the smaller, intimate promos always make me smile the widest. 😊🎧
Because when it’s just you, the artist, and the camera 🎥 — no gallery crew, no “in-ear” guidance — it’s raw, real, and oh-so risky… but that’s where the magic happens. ⚡
🎩 The Producer’s Many Hats
A music video producer doesn’t just press play ➡️ — we’re part creative, part organiser, part firefighter 🚒, part therapist 🛋️. From pre to post, we keep the whole band in tune.
🎼 Pre-Production (setting the tempo):
Harmonising with client & artist on their vision 🎤
Storyboards, scripts, and budgets (yes, even the unsexy stuff 💸)
PPMs, casting, choreo, and clearances ✅
Making sure the ship sails smoothly 🚢
🥁 Production (where it gets loud):
Crew, kit & safety checks 🔧
Hosting clients & keeping everyone in sync 🎛️
Briefing talent & signing off glam 💄
Troubleshooting (and sometimes literally dancing behind camera 💃🕺🤣)
🎷 Post (the remix phase):
Working hand-in-hand with editors 🎬
Hitting deadlines (usually yesterday ⏱️)
Keeping creative fluid & flexible without losing the beat 🌀
🎵✨ Like every shoot, there are last-minute key changes: script tweaks on the floor, wild ideas for flying elephants 🐘 at the 11th hour, and playback never quite loud enough 🔊😂.
But when the final cut drops, the rhythm locks in, and you catch yourself smiling as you hit play… THAT’s when you know it was all worth it. 💫
