Not sure what to make of this, seems to me with a whopping great fine the knock on effect will be less commissions and so freelancers will lose once again

The UK competition regulator says the BBC, BT, IMG and ITV illegally shared information about fees.

Because you want to be paid what your worth, and for 30 years every show I’ve ever worked on.. the production manager says “This time the budget is really stretch”. As if we don’t hear that on every negotiation.
It doesn’t surprise me that production managers talk. I’m more surprised this has become a legal issue.
But with the industry in decline, I can see that freelancers are going to have their rates crushed if they are desperate for work, and only a few productions hold all of the cards.
