I’ve not spilled a coffee on anyone… yet!)
I’m old school so whenever I witness a crew member not being treated in a respectful way that everyone should be, I always speak up to calm the situation, reminding everyone including myself that we are all doing our very best. If on a shoot as so often I too am pushed by others for time at least I have the authority to say that when working I only have two speeds and my other is slower.
Consequently I work less these days, but at least I sleep well on a night, however my biggest fear is that there are many in this industry that do not.
It’s time for change!
The pressure in these industries stems from an unsustainable cycle—chasing money and DEADLINES!
Whilst I don't see this high-pressure environment changing soon, we need two meaningful shifts: better mental health screening and support for those entering these fields, and leadership that acknowledges the personal sacrifices made throughout the entire process—not just at wrap parties.
Creative excellence shouldn't require sacrificing our humanity!
