So 2 1/2 minutes of the movie crocodile Dundee has been cut from the 4k version.. and the upcoming cinema rerelease.

Whats been cut?. Well some dated jokes in a bar scene.. as well as a scene where hogan comically gropes someone which don’t hold up. And Hogan has signed off on the changes to the film.

I’m not defending or endorsing the original jokes..but they were in the original movie.

This new cut will now become the de facto version of the movie that new audiences will see.

The question is.. Do we want all movies to be reconfigured based on what is deemed acceptable by current standards?

I think it’s tricky to rerelease a movie in the cinema to a modern audience that you wouldn’t sign off on today… but I don’t like the idea of changing classic movies either.

If changes are done with respect, and the full agreement of those involved.. maybe it’s fine. But then a bit of arm twisting can make most agree to the studios demands.

It’s an interesting debate.

Any thoughts?
