Ah, Cymru… A land I’d never stepped in before, but it quickly left its mark on me. Even at the office (and then again on location) I felt a sense of hiraeth - that deep, inexplicable longing for something you can’t quite put into words but know you’ll miss.
Building relationships with real estate agents in Cymru was about more than just sales; it was about fostering cynefin - that sense of belonging, of understanding where we all fit within the story of someone’s move. Moving home is never just about bricks and mortar; camera and tripod; point and shoot; it’s about finding that connection to a new chapter in life, bringing out the excitement of it too.
The experience wasn’t without surprises - like selecting two new-build homes with astroturf (who knew?) or advising the team to take a chance on the mystery house. Both were risks, but they worked, and I made my first ever sale on this episode.
But more than anything, I’ll remember the hwyl - the energy, the spirit, the joy of connecting with people who welcomed me into their world. Not bad for a first time in Cymru. I’ll definitely be back, drawn by the pull of hiraeth. Not to mention the amazing and unexpected similarity between rural India and Wales!
I’m so happy for Anjali and Charlie to have escaped to the country!
