I've discovered by emailing people directly, that when you apply for events places, you press a single button and it says you've secured a place for the event. What the app didn't do was send me an application form to fill out which when discussed with Jon from DV Training, he said I was missing, meaning the app must seemingly bypass these extra steps in securing you a place for an event.
