Had a fun bank holiday weekend - back where I belong, behind the camera, producing some fun content for Havas Play UK out in Germany for some wonderful clients. (I'll give you three guesses who for!)
Based at the world's largest convention for gaming - GamesCom in Köln (it's about 12 Excel centres worth, for those Londoners reading!) Genuinely, it's enormous.
Gaming is such an exciting space for brands to get into; and certainly somewhere I can see getting even bigger as brands start to recognise key areas they naturally fit into and pursue new avenues by increasing their brand awareness by tapping into this fun and lively community.
Producing in branded content is so different than producing in TV. Part of my job here is all the production management aspects aka shoot producing, from managing the budget, logistics, shoot schedules, risk assessments and crewing up, but then to creative producing the interviews on the ground and thinking ahead for the edit, working with the agency and client to deliver the very best possible content we could, so a nice mix of editorial and prod management.
Always love doing the on camera interviews; using my legacy broadcast TV techniques to get the best out of all the creators we were filming with!
Having dipped into Branded Content properly since the TV downturn last year, i've realised that once you build the relationship up with the agencies, they trust you with more content. So far, I've been a Senior Producer; Director on social ads, Casting Director, and completed bid work - which is a testament to how adaptable we can be and to be honest now have to be as freelancers to survive in content production. Working with brands like JBL Quantum Deutschland, JBL Quantum France, EE, Carling, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Football Association Wales and Kraken to name a few.
So if you want an old TV brain with 16+ years experience in editorial up to SP level for your show; or someone who can confidently get stuck in at any point during the production process to get your production go to air, get in touch!
