The dropping out of Joe Biden from the presidential race is an interesting development and quite long awaited by observers, both supporters and opponents of the democratic party and anti-Trump forces.
However, this has now raised an interesting question: Who is it that will succeed him?
The aging and decline of Joe Biden is probably one of the most tragic things the Democratic party has suffered in quite some time, given his value as a candidate previously. He up until this point has been the best candidate they could possibly field, and his loss to ageing and the need to replace him will cause massive problems for the party as they scramble to find a politician who can unify the country and the party's support base the way that Biden did.
This can be viewed very poignantly by watching the previous two elections featuring Donald Trump. The first race saw an obnoxious, old, out of touch and extremely entitled Hillary Clinton insult the nation and her opponents supporters and this saw her lose to the populism of Trump.
Biden lacked a lot of these characteristics, Biden never (for example) angrily questioned why he was not "50 points ahead" which made him far less detestable to the American public and saw him to victory against Trump as the people felt less desperate in 2020.
In 2024, they will not have this luxury.
